COLD SMOKING BOXES

My smoker sits on top of a rolling tool box stand. The Box is about 16" from front to back, about 30" wide, and stands about 36" tall.

I am thinking of having a box made to fit on the end of the tool box and mount it on the generator side of the tool box.

I visualize building a box that will be as wide as the tool box is deep (16" +/-), maybe only 8" thick, and about 36" tall. The generator would attach on the outside bottom of one 16" side and discharge the smoke out the top of the other 16" side, through a 10" long piece of dryer pipe into the smoker.

I don't know how to attach a sketch and hope that my description allows you to understand what I am talking about.

My question is this. Will the vertical rise of about 30" inside the box and another 10" horizontal travel be enough travel to cool the smoke?

Thanks & Merry Christmas

I would think it would work. I'm sure you've seen my setup and it works fine. I think the biggest thing is getting the puck burner out of the tower becasue of all the radiant type heat it gives off.

Here's a link to some pictures of mine.

You can never have too many!  ;)

Anytime I see them on sale I buy some... That way I'm never short on them!  ;)

That commercial dehydrator was a great investment NePas! Thanks for giving the heads up on it. It really does save alot of time with jerky and I haven't even used it for anything else but certianly plan to.

Yeah Mike they are nice dehydrators.

In the spring i am going to finish my smoker shed (didnt get to finish this year) and install a large utility sink so the dehydrator and bradley racks can get a better cleaning area. I bought a couple nice cooking stations at cabelas i am going to install also. The weather here in NEPA got cold and snowy earlier.

Sounds like your going to have a great setup NePas! You'll have to keep us posted with pictures.  8)

I have a large laundry sink that I installed in my furnace room. It works great for cleaning/soaking up the racks. You'll definitely be happy with that.
