You were right. You should have been here to see the expression on my face when I saw the check. Wow! What a surprise. I didn't get it until a few minutes ago. It came in yesterday's mail, and I didn't check my mail box until I went out for the Sunday papers. I'm pretty sure on what I'm going to use the money for, but just need to reevaluate a little more. One thing is certain, not one penny of this money will go towards any bills.

Hi Everyone;

Sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner. I check my mailbox this morning when I went out for the Sunday papers and in it was a check from Olds for the amount that you members generously contributed. It came in the Saturday mail. I also wanted to catch up and read the thread http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=7518.0 I had stopped reading it for awhile.

The only words that I can come up with it thank you for you generosity. In these times of high fuel cost, and high inflation on all basic needs; diverting any amount of money from one's budget is costly. Working on the recipe site is enjoyable for me, and there were times I wanted to post that member should not contribute. But about 3 months ago I almost lost a close friendship because I declined a favor from him. I knew he was not in any position to do what he wanted to do, so I turn down his offer. To make a long story short, he was highly offended; so the lesson learned - if someone offers you something from the bottom of their heart; accept graciously, and make sure you return the favor. So hopefully I will be able to return this act of kindness.

Well enough of the mushy stuff. For years I've been putting money aside to purchase one of the Caldera Smoker models, (I know this may be sacrilege); and your donations have put me within reach of this goal. Now I just have to step back, and review this to see if this is really what I want to buy. Whatever my decision, I have vowed to myself that this money will not go to pay off any bills.

Habs your the man!  I've only been member for a brief time(and hopefully with time that will change) but your insight and Olds, and well quite honestly everyone on this site I have learned more and laughed more and have never felt more at ease/home on a website than here!  You earned it all!!  (ya just gotta mention mesquite more  ;D)

Habs - Your knowledge alone is worth the donation and I am sure there is a LOT of work to maintain the recipe site.  As all have stated, our donations are one way we can say thank-you.  Olds, this was one hell of a good idea.

Ditto what Wildcat said...I, for one, am in awe of your dedication to the recipe site and respect you immensely for your food knowledge. We need to thank you Habs. I have learned a ton from your posts!! The real way you can thank us (the members) is...keep posting so some of us dumb chits don't mess up more then we already do!!! :)
