I use Hickory but it sounds as though I should try some oak. :)

Just did one with the Crown Royal bisquettes. Nice flavor. If you are in the US then you can try the Jim Beam as Crown Royal ones are not available there I hear. No Jim beam here.

I have seen Jim Beam bisquettes at Wholesale Sports here in Edmonton.

Just my opinion - mesquite on a brisket, oak on "roast beef" (sirloin, top round, rib roast) and hickory on pork.  But, we all have our favorites.  Kinda like asking what your favorite laundry detergent is  :D

Decided to alternate alder and hickory , two hours each.  will taste tonight and advise
