Central MN, eh?  I spent a week or two nearly every summer during my "formative" years fishing a small lake just west of Mille Lac.  No slabs but nice 'gills and bass with the occasional "up-turned canoe" chasing our plugs.  Great times.

BTW...welcome from Nebraska.
