FTC was a mystery to me also when I first joined but it makes a whale of a difference F wrap tightly in foil T then wrapped in a towel C place into an igloo cooler (take your beer and ice out first!) hence FTC!  Hope that helps!

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Has anyone else gone with LESS smoke? Say, 5-6 pucks worth?

Sometimes the wife finds that 4 hours is too smoky. She says everything ends up tasting like "weiners"...
It's the wood that makes it good.

Many people use less smoke.  I personally like a heavy smoke on most things, but it can get over powering on some delicate things.

Habanero Smoker

I haven't tried less smoke on a brisket, but usually will only apply 2:40 - 3:00 of smoke on beef roasts, and that works well.

It's all a matter of personal taste. I have smoked items with only 1 puck, and then I've done 6 hours. We couldn't tell the difference from 4 hours.
