Wow, what a wealth of information on this forum.  I'm not really new to smoking, but I'm thinking of buying a Bradley smoker and was browsing the site when I came across this forum.

I've learned a lot all ready but I'm a bit confused by some of the abbreviations...especially FTC.

I know there are no "dumb" questions, so please help me out here.

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to some great ideas.

Welcome
F foil  T towel  C cooler
I am also new to the site and had a lot of trouble with the acronyms (cant spell either). Just about everyone knows the lingo better than me. I went to the general discussion section and on page 3 (as of this morning) there is a post by Habenaro Smoker tittled FAQs this should help you and give you a better explanation than I can.
Again Welcome

Smoking Duck

FTC = Foil, Towel, Cooler

It's a method used after the food is smoked.  I do it with all of my meats.

After the meat gas come up to my desired internal temp, I triple wrap the meat in foil (shiny side toward the meat), then double wrap the foiled meat in a towel, then place it in a cooler (no ice or water).  This can hold the meat for about 6 hours.  I, myself, do it for a couple of reasons.  I believe it is a great way to rest the meat after cooking and I also do it to allow me to prepare the side dishes that will accompany the meal.  Additionally, you don't have to use a cooler.  Sometimes I will throw it in the microwave (no heat) and let it sit there.  Other times, I'll throw it in the stove that has been heated to 100F and then turned off before the meat goes in.

You are correct that there is a wealth of info here.  Just about everything I know about smoking foods, I learned here.

Welcome, memquisit.  You'll really enjoy the folks here as well as the information that is so freely distributed here!

Welcome to the forum.

I was like you almost 2 years ago.  Some smoking experience, but never with an electric.  After a lot of research I decided to try the Bradley Original in Stainless Steel.  One of the best decisions.
