Bradley Durability

I had unexpected somewhat heavy rain in New Jersey. I covered the Auber Pid and the Bradley digital smoke stack with plastic bags. How durable is the actual cooking box in the rain. I was running out to work this morning and did not get a chance to cover the box. I figured the box needed to breathe anyway. What do you guys think? Thanks

I have the OBS, that got caught in uncovered in a down pour and everything turned out alright. As for the cabinet, the digital should be more weather proof then the OBS. If the vent was left open, open the door and tilt the cabinet forward to let any water to escape. Use a hair dryer to thoroughly dry both contacts of the heating element. With the drip pan they shouldn't have gotten wet but its just a precaution. Unplug the short cord and sensor cord from the back and use the hair dry to dry both the female and male ends. You should be set to go. I would first plug the heating element directly into a power strip, and then turn on the power to test it.

That rain caught me by surprise also...4 butts in the DBS.  Rained so hard it woke me up.  I ran out and covered the PID and smoke generator, it all still seems to work fine.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.

My DBS got caught in the rain once. Scared the He** out me. However, it suffered no ill effects from it and that was a year ago.

I have had my OBS outside for over two years now through winds, rain, fog, and the Sothern California fires and I never had a problem.. i do have it  covered when it is not in use.

Just let it dry out well, I had mine taken apart on the back porch went to bed and woke up to pouring rain.  Dried it out, put it back together and nary a problem since!
