We just had another layoff on the slope of over 120 workers. Man, things are just getting out of hand!!! I just pray that all of you folks weather through these tough times. I'm still working but am real nervous each time I go to the airport to fly back to Prudhoe Bay to go back to work. The way you find out if your layed off is if they don't let you on the plane to go up north. Hope they get this gas line figured out soon!

Good luck Pat. In our plant everyone tries to avoid running into one of the bosses on Wed. or Thur. thats the axe day(s). We have about 50-60% of the work force layed off at our plant and the other plant is in worse shape. Two weeks ago we layed off a guy with 25 years in. I think I will be ok for another month or so then if things do not turn around?????  ???

Now this read has me thinking that some sanity has been lost among some workers. I for one, would have happily accepted a reduction in wage to keep my 30 year job, but it was not offered. If this is the mentality in Detroit, then 2 out of the Big 3 will probably fail. I am not getting a political or a Union opinion going on, but at what point will the lucky ones still working realize that we are in trouble here!

This type of approach to the unemployment crises will extend it even further.

Also had a yuk at a local Honda Dealer here that went on strike for wages and benefits. I guess they have not noticed all of the Dealers that have closed around them and the number of available replacements
that are available.

My wife and I have both taken some serious financial hits and we do what we gotta do to stay afoat. No steaks grillin here, but plenty of yardbirds, wings, loins, butts, sausages and the like. I might even substitute a Bud Light for a Heineken! It's all good! No vacation budget means I have more time for that "Ultimate Supremo Fatty" or the "Cajun Brats" that are never hot enough for my friends.

It is not a pleasent thing, when the workers of America must take a cut to keep working, but what are the alternatives?
