Up In Smoke

Hello all,
i have owned my OBS for a few years now,
today i was setting up to smoke a couple butts (will post pics in meat)
i haven't unplugged the cabinet for a while.
i usually unplug the SG when i clean it.
anywho i unplugged the cabinet today to hook up the pid and found
it was full of greasy goo like forms around the door seal and drips out if you
do not open the vent.
i smoke with the vent full open 95% of the time. the other 5% is 3/4 open.
not sure if anybody else has found this, if not you may want to check/clean the
connection at the cabinet.

Some people are like Slinkies... They're really good for nothing.
...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I've had mine for almost 5 years and that has not happened to me. If you look at the thread when I installed my second element, other then some of the insulation being charred it is clean back there. That is unusual, and you may have a bigger problem.

Unless you have a crack in your back wall, there are only two openings that grease could possibly seep through, and that is where the wires for the heating element enters. Your porcelain end caps that hold the element may need tightening. Make sure the screws are snug, but don't over tighten them or you will crack the porcelain.

Also try to avoid having your food touch the back wall. To will prevent most grease from running down the back wall.
