Well according to the "Total time logged in" stats, I have 19 hours and 54 minutes!! So, call me a "lurker", but also call me a "learner"!!
This site is great and the people on it are tremendously helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you for all the help!!!

I follow the OLD's recipes and so far the results have been fantastic - with one exception, that being pulled pork. Pulled pork up in BC is not that popular but I have had it before when I was in Nashville,  so thought I'd try it. My thoughts are that it is a LOT of work, but just Ho Hum results. Maybe it is an acquire taste..... It wasn't bad, just not good.

Anyways, hello to all...

One suggestion I would like to make is a sub directory for Canadian members. We Canucks don't have access to products etc that you good folks in the US have, trying to buy things based on recommendations from you US members is quite often an exercise in futility. A Canuck directory would be very helpful for us "Newbies"...

Hi Slamdunk and welcome to the forum.... or at least welcome to "stepping out of the closet".  ;D

I'm a fellow Canuck as well and although there sometimes are problems trying to locate certain things here, I've managed to find most. Anytime you run into problems trying to find things just post it here on the forum. Chances are another member has ran into the same problem and are more than willing to share.

Hi slamdunk;

Welcome to the forum.

You thoughts on an area for Canadian vendors is a good idea. Also if you or any other of our Northern neighbors know of vendors we can set up an area on the recipe site that list all Canadian vendor for products that are located in Canada.

I would suggest starting a new thread with a topic such as Canadian vendors so that I and others won't miss it.

Hey Slamdunk.  welcome!  Glad you decided to chime into the forum - now we have the opportunity to welcome you and get to know you.   One post and already knocking Nashville BBQ!!   ;D ;D ;D  That makes two of us.  Transplanted Texan, and Nashville was a big disappointment at first - especially the food (well except for country ham, red-eye gravy, and chess pie) and the dance halls.  I had not had any pulled pork before moving here so did not know what to expect, but at the popular local establishments, it was just a gob of grey glob on a cheap hamburger bun drizzled with some thin bbq sauce - with almost no smokey flavor - sided with some vinegary cole slaw, some god-awful sweet baked beans, and a piece of sweet (gag) cornbread.   Not the succulent moist/smokey goodness pulled pork can be.   Some of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've had were make on plain white bread, but the pork was heated up in a pan over the stove with salt and pepper until just getting crispy, then slid over onto the bread.  But I'd still rather have a brisket or clod.

Dancing was the other disappointment in Nashville.  In high school and college, I hit the dance hall frequently in addition to all the receptions that had dances, school dances, etc... Two-step, waltzes, polkas, Texas swing, the alligator belly romp, cotton-eyed-joe, schottische, etc..  Lots of good times.  So when the company told me on a Friday that I had to be in Nashville on Monday, I thought okay, can't be all bad - The Home of Country Music - there will be a dance hall on every corner.  NOT!  There was one place that had a dance floor, and it was a place a 20 something with a 54 inch chest and a 32 inch waist and tight wranglers should not go into - unless he was desperate for company.  I naively did not know the difference between country and country-western.
