Currywurst

Well I was digging around in Momma's freezer and found some Brats that had migrated to the bottom figured I needed to make me some Currywurst.

The Curry Ketchup recipe is as follows:

1 cup Ketchup
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Dry Mustard
1/2 tsp Curry Powder
2 Tbsp Vinegar

Mix all together and place over Brat or sausage that has been cut into 1 inch pieces.
Put a liberal dousing of curry powder over everything.

Looks like this

Sounds great!   I've got a few packages of brats that have done the same 'migration'.  Any particular curry powder you prefer?

Here is the type I use. It comes direct from India a friend of mine's mother in law is from India and she orders it.

Mmmmmmmmm, i'm having flashbacks to when i was stationed in Germany - love currywurst!  I'll have to try that one!

It took me 14 years to find this recipe it is pretty damn close to what we had over there while drinking a Licher Bier

I may try that brand. Natco make an excellent curry powder also. When I can find it I usually get the mild or medium version, then you can always kick it up with cayenne or a hotter chili powder to suit your taste.

Hi OU812!
I buy spices from Penzey's, too, and they do have a lot of different curries.
I would just read the descriptions carefully and pic out a couple that sound good to you.
Since curry is a blend, you can have a lot of fun trying different ones.
It's not hot but their Sate curry is really good for sate on the grill.
I made it with boneless chicken thigh meat on skewers and it was wonderful!
Got ate up FAST!

My reply to those that asked what ever kind of curry you can find and like. I have used Tones curry powder and it still tasted great I used alot more but it was good. The quality of your Brat is what matters!!!

Boy this brings back memories!
I remember my dad slicing his "wurst" down the middle and filling the cut with curry and putting ketchup on top. Too bad he is not around, I would have made him some currywursts.
