The question is in the subject.  $0.79/pound is tough to pass up.

Supermarkets often take liberties in how they label a cut. Whole pork shoulder generally includes the picnic (lower portion of the front leg) and the butt (upper portion of the front leg); it's the whole leg. I have also seen that wording for picnic shoulder is some store. The difference in the two will be the weight. A whole shoulder will weight from 12 - 16 pounds; while the but will average about 6 - 9 pounds, and the picnic averages a little less.

By the price I would guess that they are selling picnic shoulders. What store is this?

Thanks for the clarification Habs.  This ad was on the front page of their online weekly circular which I've never read before.  They had the again on the last page, along with 0.89 for shank or butt half.  Sorry, I didn't read that far last night.
