I using the marinate cycle on my new Foodsaver to make some jerky. The V3840 comes with a marinate container so I thought that I would give it a try. What it does is draw a vacuum and holds it for a bit then releases it then does the same cycle over again two more times. You should see the marinade bubble up then disappear into the meat as it cycles.

Here it is in action with 3 1/2 pounds of flank steak.

I need a bigger container :)

Has anyone tried rigging that hose connection to, say, a Tupperware lid, or some other large airtight container?

Foodsaver has a 6 qt container with the knob on top (you need that type for the marinade cycle).
