KN, I was hoping to get some sear marks and I barely got faint lines.

You got a Sharpie pen?  Color in those faint lines. Momma will never know the difference. ;)  Bet they tasted great even with no lines.

Turn that puppy up for 30 mins empty, then flop the steaks on the grate.

Seems like I recall CB saying to place aluminum foil over the area where you are going to place the steaks.  Let it run on high for 30 minutes or so, lid closed and when time to sear the steaks, jerk the foil off of the grate and steaks on.

Haven't tried it but the guy is a writer for Char-Broil Grills so I'm guessing he may know of which he speaks.

Smokin Soon

Like I said in a previous post, Sear marks are pretty, but not necessary on the Treager. Those are some beautiful steaks!

I did both the two above......I had mine on high (i have 180) and all my guage was registering was 315.
They taste great, nothing wrong there.I could spray some sugar water on the grind and let the sugar cook,
naaaa that's cheating. The steaks did have an 1/4 smoke ring.

SS, I am happy. Well my belly is. I just fell asleep at the puter.

Sear marks or no sear marks those steaks looked great.
