Killer Shipping Charges

man, the shipping charges these days are insane.
I wish I could figure out what they were based on, there does not seem to be a lot of logic.
I was all set to order some cures from Bradley, 5 containers in total, 28 oz each
Product total: just under $100
Freight: $66
How can freight charges be that high these days, nasty, nasty, nasty

Off to Amazon and ebay I go.

Wow. That does seem high. I put a few of the 28oz cures in my cart and the shipping was almost 50%.

In these days of economical difficulties, I think they are using Air Force 1 for shipping and thus the high rates :D

Shipping rates from Canada.....what do you expect. Shop around. "The Sausage Maker" is free shipping on orders over $125.00 until 12/31/2009

Guys

Get this, I am a Cannuck. I live in Ontario. No duty, no brokerage and I suspect these are shipped from a warehouse that is about 45 mins from where I live.

I ordered a home theatre stereo thing from Coscto. Box was huge. 80 plus pounds. Cost me 12 bucks to ship it. Go figure.
Ordered a whack ( 400 plus ) tulip bulbs from Coscto, they originate in Victoria BC and find their way to Ontario, under 10 bucks
to ship.

Does not make a lot of sense. It may be cheaper to order them from the US and import......

oakville smoker - not sure if you're still in Oakville, but they sell the Bradley cures at Le Baron. there's a store in Mississauga!

i am lucky enough to live 5 minutes away from the Le Baron in Ottawa. i buy all my bisquettes there (much cheaper than Canadian Tire!)

I live in Calgary and did order a few items from Bradley a while back. The bill for the items was around $60 and when I went to do the online checkout the shipping charges were over $35 :o. I sent them an email and they said that there was a problem with the online shipping charge calculation and that they would correct it. It all worked out after they corrected their onlien ordering system. I believe the shipping charges dropped down to around $18.

I would email Bradley, maybe they had another error with their onlien ordering system.

I just received an order of heating elements for a project and the shipping was $10.55, I am not sure where you live, I am in Canada. I also ordered a Smoke Generator kit and the shipping was $16.62. You should call Bradley.

I just went online to Bradley's website and tried to order 5 containers of their cure (28 oz. each) and the shipping charges to Calgary were $73.90 :o :o

Something is definitely wrong with their website. My cold smoke adapter only cost me $24 shipping.

Bingo I just placed my order there and got the free shipping. I had to quit looking around that site or be forced or take out a second mortgage.

I wanted to order Morton Tender Quick from Morton. The 2 pound bag was $4.50. Not bad. The shipping was $8.50! Fo'get about it!

Thanks Hawkeye, I'll keep that in mind and I really do appreciate it. I have to get together a list of what I want for bacon, sausage and casings. Hopefully, if I order everything together, the overall shipping will be a lower percentage of the total cost.

You'd think, with the current economy, places would offer free shipping to get business, especially new business. But, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I think the shipping for 2 packages of MTQ is the same as one.

I just keep adding to my cart until the freight goes up, then back it down one.

I get MTQ from allied kenco.
