Hi!  Mrs Seemore here.
The cheerleaders of one of the high schools in our city is doing a wonderful thing with special needs girls.
In fact, the creators of this program were the Persons of the Week a couple weeks ago on ABC Evening News.
Here is the link:

I got it from a local radio station.  The daughter of one of the am DJ's is a member of this squad, and she is interviewed.
Please let me know if the link went through ok.
Thanks!!!

I watched both of the news stories about the girls. An inspiration to us all how one act of kindness can help so many. The girls are trying to take the program nation wide so if you have any cheerleaders in your house have them watch the video.

Mrs. Seemore, Thank you so very much for posting that video.  Your town must be so proud!!!  I hope no one walks past my desk and sees the tears in my eyes (Construction office).  That brought back a flood of memories.  An assistant Pastor who was a big influence on me in High School had a young daughter with Downs.  For some unkown reason she took an immediate liking to me and I took an immediate liking to her.  I carried her around on my shoulders all the time, she sat by me in church every Sunday, she sat by me in SS, went to all my football and baseball games, etc...  Her father, the asst pastor had played college ball and some semi-pro, and was under pro contract for about two weeks when he got the pastor calling.  So she was the darling of the HS footballers from that church (there were only 2 of us).  We wanted to put her up on our shoulders while we ran onto the field before a game, but the school would not let us.  She'd have had a major thrill.  Man, I miss her and her little hand holding mine, her exuberant personality, and her freely given love for all!

I think it's a wonderful statement about kids today and their level of acceptance and tolerance to those who are not "normal", so to speak....
Back in my high school days (1974-1976) a special needs person would have NEVER been allowed to participate in anything like this.
It seems that all we ever hear about it bad things about kids today.  This was a very nice way to showcase some good things.

Mrs. Seemore,

I would like to quote one of my favorite writers of all times; Khalil Gubran.

"Never wish upon your children to become like you, wish upon yourselves to be like your children. As life moves forward and not backwards". From KG's book THE PROFIT.

Well said, HR, well said!!!  I like Khalil Gubran too!

And Caney, NOTHING WRONG with shedding tears!  It is very MASCULINE, in my opinion, when a man has the guts - I will not say the other word that comes to mind - to show emotions!

Mrs. S,
Glad you said it's OK for guys to tear up because I just did.  What a great inspirational story.  A really great bunch of kids, both groups.

Thank you for posting.

Just wanted you to know that the PV Cheerleaders will be featured on Oprah Winfrey next Tuesday, November 24.  Those girls are so stoked it is unbelievable!!!
It is one of those shows where Oprah features individuals or groups across the country that are doing good things for people.  I just love it when she has those shows.
If I am rambling I apologize.  I had some minor surgery yesterday and let's just say that Tylenol 3 with Codeine, is like, really coooooooool...

Happy Friday!!!
