Had an employee that tick off a DoD contractor we have a sub-contract with. I got a call two Saturdays back where I was instructed not to allow that employee back in the building.

Well the employee is a single Mom with 4 kids. So Susan and I decided to continue to pay this employee while she sat at home.

This week I got her into another building and what does she do??? She is caught by my building Supervisor stealing a cold soda.

I told my building's Supervisor's Supervisor to fire her. (two levels above the employee)

Sitting here drinking some brandy I told Susan that I was so tired of trying to be good to people only have then crap on us... she, as the grand lady she is, replied...but it is our way.

Then she reminded me of all of the folks over the years who are better off because of us.

Danm wife I hate it when she is right all of the time. Nevertheless I'm still ticked off.

You know Oldman, I am the type to always help people when they need a hand. And whenever someone calls for help, I just ask them "when do they what me there". I can't count the times I have pushed away from the dinner table to go jump start a car or pick someone up here or there. And when I need a hand with something these same people say sure but I have to do this first or I can help you next Tuesday or whatever. Yeah it pisses me off everytime it happens. But the next time they call me for a hand I say OK "when do you need me" and I put the fork down. It's just the way I was raised. My grandfather was the same and I spent enough time with him for it to rub off on me. But when all is said and done, we know that we have done the right thing, even if we are taken advantage of sometimes, because if just once out of a hundred, we make the difference to someone who truly needed our help, the reward was worth the effort. It will all come back in our Karma if you believe in that sort of stuff.
I like to walk threw life on the path of least resistance. But sometimes the path needs a good kick in the ass.

there are many things in us we could change...habits, customs, way of life, likes and dislikes and others. But we can not change who we are.

You and Susan are good people and there is no way you could change that.

I am not as "think" as you "drunk" I am.

Think this sums it up perfectly, some people are givers and some are takers in life and unfortunately this woman is a taker ..... kindness, help, support is wasted on people like that.

You and Susan are good people Raye and neither of you will ever change either and that is what really matters. :)

I agree with all of the above and add Susan is a very wise woman.

People like that woman are everywhere. Fortunately, people that are just the opposite are everywhere also. Your wife was a teacher and mine still is. They would be the first to say that if just 1 persons life out of 30 is improved by your efforts, then the work, frustrations, and sacrafices are worth it. It will always work out in the end.
Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.

It's a new day Olds!  Start of fresh, take a deep breath, got to work, go home and have another Brandy!

How is our pooch Sky doing Olds?  We lost both our Boston's over 9 months in 2007/2008 - that really sucked!  We've got another that adds pure joy to the house.  What can we do to be the person our dogs thing we are? ???

I get frustrated all the time as I have 80 people that work for me. I try and do the nice things and help them when I can. In general they are appreciative but then you get the taker who trys to ruin it for everyone. I sdometimes feel like you do and just want to quit acting nice to anyone. Thank goodness about that time someone that we have helped shows that all they needed was a chance and they turn their life around!!!!

When that happens it makes up for about 20 of the bad folks and really makes you feel good!! You and your wife are great people from the stories I have read about you.

Don't give up keep trying!

cool - all I have to do is find it! ;D

Skyway is doing fine. However, as he has gained weight in his old age we are having to keep a close eye on his anus as it is now sticking out. As such with that thin skin he will tear it and start to bleed. We have a wash for that problem and he is still getting 1 to 6 baths per day.

Sorry about your loss.

For those that don't Skyway he is 10 years old and come Christmas he will have been handicapped for 8 years.

Good old boy!  At least he's still around giving you hugs and kisses!  Cookie was close to 12 when we lost her and Stella was 11 - the breed (Boston Terrier) normally lives between 10 and 12 years so they did have a good, long life for them.  Olds, what's the process of inserting an image - I have a pic of the new baby on my desktop here at work.

Your image first needs to be hosted. I thought a few years back we set you up with an upload area on my server. Did we not give you 10-20 megs of storage? If not let me know and I will set you up and host your images. After that I will do a step by step how-to for ya... it is really simple.

Yeah, we did but I have long since forgotten how to access.

You still growing PUPs?

I saw that Chezz Bubba's site is down due to lack of purchasing interest - that's to bad.

How's Kummok doing?  Anyone heard from him?
