My new smoker is on the way and I can hardly wait to get smokin....I've been checking out this forum and it looks like it's going to be my best source of smoking information.  Now that I'm retired and starting to get under my wife's feet, I need the new hobby to keep my mind and my tastebuds sharp.  I look forward to reading more on the forum.  Oh, I'm getting the BDS-4

Dangit, CRG - State Farm is the "good neighbor" people.

I KNOW - I saw it spray-painted on a garage door after hurricane Andrew:
"State Farm.  Like a good neighbor, Where the h#ll are you?"

Welcome Rick, and don't worry your tastebuds will be so sharp you won't need a fork.

It's still in transit, just checked the UPS tracking number and they say it won't arrive until the 5th.  I can hardly wait.

Thank you all for the wonderful welcome.  I've just recently semi-retired and I am learning that it now takes longer to do nothing than before I retired.  My dear wife is supporting my desire to learn how to smoke properly, so I envision many experiments in smoked meats and fish in my future (one of our good friends who regularly smokes salmon is a bit miffed that I might be giving her some competition).

smokin65, While you are waiting you can go to the Bradley Home Page and review

the manual to your smoker so that you will be ready for when it comes in.

If you are going to be smoking fish you may want to consider a PID

This is a plug n play unit that shows how it is use in controlling the temp
of the cabinet and being programmed for smoking fish.

Hope this helps. Just remember if you have any questions just ask.

Hi Classic,

I've been pouring over the forum, I've already downloaded the manual and have been reading about all the trials and tribulations of smoking on this forum.  This forum has so much support to offer that it really gives me confidence that any question will be answered and help given really fast.

Just in case you are interested, the smokin65 handle refers to my car, not my age (I'm not 65 yet).
