Probably gonna try a butt this weekend.  Wife threatened to cook it into Carnepas though!

Spoon a splash of the sauce off to the side for the kitties.  My little buddy Frazier used to be a tomato sauce hound.  He'd turn his face red licking up the plate.

Reason enough to do two, then!    Practice/Experiment a little..

I've got a bottle of Tony Chachere's cajun butter in the garage...  I might 'juice' a beer can chicken with some of that.

I deboned a Turkey breast, injected it with Creole butter, cut in half and

rolled up each half into a ball, tied it together and gonna smoke it tomorrow and finish on the traeger.

A couple local stores have pork butt and roaster (maybe fryer? what's the difference?) chickens for 89 cents a pound..  Hmm...

Size of the chickens I think.  I think fryers are smaller.

Age
Fryer chickens are 7 to 13 weeks old, while roaster chickens are 3 to 5 months old.
Size
Fryer chickens weigh between 1 1/2 and 4 lbs. Roasters are larger and weigh between 3 1/2 and 7 lbs.
Serving Size
A whole fryer chicken is typically enough food to serve three to four people, and a roaster chicken serves between five and seven people.
Flavor
The meat of a roaster chicken is typically more flavorful than a fryer.
Tender
While roaster meat is tender as well, the meat of the fryer chicken is especially tender.

[confession time]

To be perfectly honest, that beer can chicken I smoked the other night was the first 'whole' chicken I've ever cooked.   We've been boneless/skinless chicken breast snobs for a while  (maybe a wing here and there at a party) - but we're fighting our way out of that mold now!
