Ok I bought 17mm casings to make my very first batch of snack sticks.  Lo and behold the casing don't fit in my 3/8 tube.  Rats.  Does anyone have a workaround for me or am I just out of luck?   Also what is the smallest casing that a 3/8 tube will fit?  Is it 19mm or 21mm?

Thanks!

That sounds strange.  17 mm is 2/3 of an inch.  What type of casing is it (I'd guess collagen)?  What's the actual outside diameter of the 3/8" tube?

It is collagen.  The tube measures 1/2" on the outside.  It is a kitchen aid stuffing tube.  The tip barely goes in and I have to force it.  Let also state this is my very first attempt.  I am thinking I pull the casing at least 3/4 of the way down the tube and then begin to fill it.

love the smoke

I have the LEM stuffer with the LEM 3/8 tube and the LEM 19mm cologen casings and they will not all fit on the tube without getting one end started and stretching the casings off or out of the pack starting the end  on the tube and sliding about 3-4 feet on the tube

I use a 1/2 OD tube with 19-21mm casings. With a 17mm casing you need to use a 3/16 OD tube.

Any idea where can I get one that will fit the Kitchenaid?

You might want to give BJT a holler

Ok thanks.  In the meantime I will order some 19mm casings.  NePAs are you aware of if there is a jerky extruder attachment I could hook up the kitchenaid instead of the tube that would fit?

I had the same problem with my grinder / stuffer
I still have collagen casings and cure in the fridge for snack stix
I wound up buying a stuffer
My grinder works great but I think the KA stuffer will drive you mad,it did me
My Nesco grinder stuffer grinds great but the stuffing just doesnt work
All I wanted to do was slow smoke some ribs.  Another addiction created thanks to the Bradley that requires regular servicing...  But what an addiction to have.  Even better to share here with some of the best people on the planet.

Would you like smoke with that sir ?

Or it will give you some big muscles trying to get the meat out of the tube, at least for the small diameter tube used for 19-21 mm casings.
