PID question

I'm still waiting for my PID and got to wondering.    I'm sure my questions will be answered when it gets here but would like to know now.    With the PID attached do I still turn on and adjust the heat for the smoker of is it all done with the PID?

The PID takes care of it RAF128. If you have the OBS, the slider gets set to high. With the DBS you don't even need to turn the heating unit on as the PID controls it.
