I was wondering if any one has tried to use Mulberry or chokecherry to smoke before.  I have ample supplies of mulberry wood and am not sure if it would be a decent smoking wood or if it would be too bitter to use for smoking.

We have Mulberry trees that grow like weeds around here and I have used it for smokin when using the propane bullet type smoker and the off set smoker.

I think its close to Apple.

That was what I was hoping to hear.  I am also going to give some ash a try, too.  Figure that it should be similar to oak.

Thanxs uncle al, your method works a treat. We have olive trees that grow wild, I use a drop saw to cut them. All the saw dust I then use in my green egg. Drilling the holes makes them burn well.
