Just received my new Auber PID two probe unit.

Also just installed the extra heating element in my 6BDS.

Heating up so I can do the auto tune and can't get the temp up past 185 when the Auber throws an "H" code and stops working.  What do I need to do?

I have the smoker fiilled with two large bricks and two bowls of water.

Garage is at 2C (36F)

Anything else you need to know

Auber is set at 225*  and stop at 250*  but will not go past 185

Did you program the Auber for cooking temp and time only so you don't need to use the meat probe?

Your E settings need to be controlled by t, not f the way you have the smoker loaded.

I changed the setting to T and it was still beeping.  when I plugged in the meat probe the alarm turned off and it started working.  Does the meat probe always need to be plugged in?

I'm not sure on that one Klondike. Shoot an email to Suyi at [email protected].

I'm sure he will get right back to you on that.

I thnik I just figured it out.  Setting number three was still set on F .  When I changed all the settings to T I was able to unplug the meat probe.

Auto tune is done, took about 30 minutes

Thought I would see how the meat probe works so set the
C01  -  200
E01  -  F
f01  -  275

all I get is an alarm beep and the "H" code  and the heater shuts off

Now what?

The meat probe is just hanging off the rack next to the PID temp probe.  Thought it would be interesting to see how close in temperature the two probes are.

the only time i have seen a H on mine (i have the same unit), was when my probes were not pluged correctly i had a bad food probe so i had to remplace it. It was under warranty so Mr Liu sent me a new one.

And to answer an other question, if in your cooking process you have both T and F operations, yes both probes needs to be pluged in. The only way you can operate the pid without the food probe is if you did not choose any step controll by F only T or it won't work as you seen.

Thought I had this all figured out.  Put a butt in and everything working fine until two hours later I get the dreaded "H" error code.  I set the C02 to a time factor (20 hours) and the alarm goes away.  Set it back to temp and the "H" code comes back.  Any ideas or do I have a bad temp probe?

settings

C01   250    t    1.0 hrs       for pre heat
C02   217    f    192            for butt IT
C03   150    t    150            for cool down (if I am sleeping)
C04  blank
C05  blank
Co6  blank

Sound to me you have a bad probe. The connection wire under the black rubber thing might me loose or something. Just call or email Suyi at Auber. He will send you an other if your is still under warranty.

It is definately still under warranty.  first time I have used it.  It worked fine for a couple of hours then quit.  does it matter if the metal wire is touching other temp probe wires?  I have 4 wires going in the smoker two from the Auber and two from the Maverick.

Can't say for sure, but me, i would avoid them to touch each others.

On one other subject, i want to personally thank you for your smoker in the garage setup. You know the exhaust fan with dryer hose above your smoker through the window, i stole the idea from you  :P you just made a young man in wheelchair life easier. Thankfull until death man. I did the same but in my kitchen.  ;D
