THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

This one is a little different.... Two Different Versions.................  Two Different Morals

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away..

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Rev. Jeremiah Wright  then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's  sake.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY:  Be careful how you vote in 2010.

There is a lot to be said about your story. Many parts of it is so true.  However, I take it you never been or had a family member so very ill that was turned away for a doctor's office due to the lack of insurance. I hope this never happens to your family. If it does you will remember your story.

I LIKE your story, and I have faith in the American people, and their longstanding tradition of christian charity for the truly needy.

Furthermore, I agree with premise that I have no RIGHT to the fruits of someone else's laborious efforts.  Should they see fit to help me with what they have earned with their own blood, sweat and tears, and I need that help, so be it -- and I would be most appreciative.

However, I would rather lay down and DIE than to have my life preserved with stolen money.  Even if it was "legally stolen" --- I don't want my government to steal anything from someone else for my benefit.  Forced benevolence is NOT a form of charity or caring for your fellow man.  It is, pure and simple, a form of stealing.

I have heard of the new "living" constitution, but I still believe our founders created the greatest, most prosperous, and most charitable nation on earth, and I believe that the constitution of the United States, that they forged with their own lives and fortunes, means EXACTLY what it says.

I do understand that my love for God, Country, and the U.S. Constitution may be unpopular these days.  Perhaps, the cost of popularity is more than I can bear

Soon everyone will get to wait 6 months to see a doctor even if you have insurance like in other countries and doctors will not care anymore when they can't earn a decent living for the years of sacrifice they spent to be a doctor.

As a CANADIAN. I would NEVER trade or change our health care system! I think it is on the very top of a long list of things
that make our country great!!  Just because someone can't afford health care does that mean they are not worthy of getting it?
I do not believe in free loading off others,  People today(young kids especially) need to start taking more responsibilaty for their own
actions.  That being said, if I work and pay taxes and that helps some one else out in a time of need that so be it.  Where will always be
lazy people who will work the system taking advantage of others good nature.  You can not focus on those people, one only needs to think
of the elderly or a small child.  Would you, if you had a choice not help them out if you could?  I have never had to wait six months to see
a doctor, nor has anyone I know.  I also don't know any docs that are under paid(they and teachers earn every cent they get!!)

This is way to heavy for me back to smoke'N!! ;D
Either Way....I'm Smoke'N It
