We have a 3 mini crockpot serving thing we got for our wedding. We're having an open house this weekend for my wife graduating with her masters. I'm stuck on another good snack type item that could go in a small crock pot. We are making queso in one, meatballs in another, and the 3rd we're not sure on, she's not a fan of little smokies so those were out. We are doing a collard green artichoke dip but that is baked, I guess we could always scoop it into the last crock pot but I'm looking for something else. Any suggestions?

Bacon is the Crack Cocaine of the Food World.

Be careful about calling yourself and EXPERT! An ex is a has-been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure!

Congratulations on your wife's success.

Is this what you purchased Trio Slow-Cooker Server? I would be interested in how well it works. Mine just arrived by UPS on Monday, and I haven't had a chance to check it out. I got my from Costco because their crock pots were 3 quarts, while the other stores selling the same crock pot were 2.5 quarts.

I often make a dip similar to this Buffalo Chicken Dip. You don't have to use can chicken, you can use left over cooked or smoked chicken, pulled pork, smoked brisket etc. Just be careful not to add any additional salt. Instead of ranch dressing, you can add your favorite rub with 1 cup of sour cream or heavy cream.

Thank's I know she's worked very hard and it's been frustrating for her getting this degree finished.

That is the one we got. I'll let you know, I am doing wings but I don't think the giant bag of wings I bought at sams will fit in one of those crocks, normally just pile them on a serving plate. Don't know if we'll make the Buffalo Dip this time since we've already got wings but it sounds delicious and I'm definitely gonna try it one of these days. We may wind up just putting the artichoke dip in there after baking, not sure. I don't think we'll have any shortage of food. I just hope a lot of it gets eaten, we're running out of room in the fridge. Here is what we've got:

Fruit Tray
Veggie Tray
Meat and Cheese Tray
Buffalo Wings
Meatballs and Teriyaki sauce
Queso
Olive cheese spread
Collard Green Artichoke Dip
Beer
5 types of wine
More Beer
Various soft drinks

I think I'm going to be busy tonight/tomorrow getting all of this ready.

We need one more thing from you... Your address, and a time to arrive!

Congrats to her on the Masters Degree!

Habs, Hal has that same Trio and it works great.  We've used it a couple times now.   The heating elements aren't very powerful, so make sure whatever you are putting in the pots isn't ice cold - or it will take a long long time for it to come up to serving temps.   Oh, and the serving spoons tend to flop out on the ground when you take the lids off, so watch out for that.  ;)

Sorce;

Looks like a good spread. Because of the small size of the pots; I'm planning on holding the food in larger containers and refilling as needed. I use my Bradley as a warming oven to keep food at a safe serving temperature until I put it out to serve (you just need to make sure that the nonsmoke food you put in it is well sealed). Also if you can find them use the crock pot liners; they make crock pot clean up a breeze. It's hard to find the small ones, but maybe one that is a size larger can be cut to fit.

STC;
Thanks for the information and tips. I can't wait to put mine to use. I will definitely make sure that the food is close to serving temperature before putting it in the crocks. Sometime this week, I'm going to try some of the recipes, and see how it works when you fully cook the food and then use it to serve. The spoons do seem top heavy so I can see how they would flip out.

Well the party was a success. I only heated up half of the 10lbs of wings, so I've got another 5lb for us for later this week. Pretty much all of the food got eaten and I think everyone had a good time. For some reason the wings didn't go that quickly until my friends got there and they headed straight for them. Guess they know what's good.

The Crock pots worked great, we put everything into them hot so they didn't have to try and heat everything, just keep it warm. We did have the issue with the spoons flopping out, I think the handles on them are a bit heavy. However I did like the design with the notch for the spoon in the side of the crock so that the lids sit flush with the spoons in there.

Overall was a good party and the briquettes should be here this week so hopefully next weekend I'll be smoking some pork.

Glad the party and food were all good!

Wings is where my friends would head for first too! ;D

Might try drilling some holes in the tops of the spoons to take away some of the weight.

Looking forward to your smoke next week.

Congrats to you and your Wife!
