Request to fellow forum contributers:  Please list the vent and water pan instructions with any posting.  The first time I tried the ABT's I kept the vent closed thinking it would keep the smoke on the food longer (more smoke being a good thing).  Unfortunately I ended up with steamed bacon, which isn't that good.

Welcome Gilligan,
As you discovered, the vent should never be closed all the way for any smoke.  It will cause the smoke to back up into and out of the internal workings of the generator and cause moisture and gunk build up problems.  Not a good thing.  I keep mine open at least 1/2 or all the way open no matter what I smoke.  Closing it does not help with smoke penetration in this smoker.

Boy, I was sure waiting to see where the MM went into the ingredients.  I just made ABTs for the work crew I had out to help me build a retaining wall.  Guess I'll have to figure out how to incorporate the MM in the ingredients with a few experiments.   :D  I had 3 of the ABT left over that I promised to wrap up for one of the guys but unfortunatly just as I was entering the house, the wind whipped around and caught the foil tray I was holding and bent it upwards tossing the ABTs to the ground.  The 2 second rule didn't apply here as they landed on the door mat filled with mud and dog hair, plus they pretty much disintigrated apart when they landed.  When I told the guy what happend to his take home package, the first thing he said was "5 second rule, did you save them".   :'(
