Well the half century mark has come and gone.  Sunday was the day.  I thought I was being taken out for dinner when I really wanted to just stay at home.  I thought I was playing golf at my golf club and ended up being taken by a buddy to a great golf course I had never played before.  There was a lot of stress during the morning and I had a feeling something was up.

Well there was something up.  My buddy is taking me home and I think I have to grab a shower and drive an hour up north to some restaurant.  NOPE.  There is an 8 foot tall rather well endowed female statute jumping out of a cake on my front lawn.  There are 50 flamingos on the front lawn.  There are 10 people waiting in the driveway with balloons, inflatable walkers, caution signs referencing upcoming health problems and a lot of people yelling surprise.

I am now being told about 100 people are showing up in the next hour.  Skiers from the ski club, golfers from the golf club, friends, co workers current and past.  The back yard I is decorated to the max.  There are coolers full of beer everywhere. Music is going.  The rec room has a slide show going with pics from here there and everywhere. No pics of brisket or yard birds or pulled pork though.

Next surprise.  You kind of have to cut about 100 steaks up before company arrives..  3 good sized tenderloins.  Onto the slicer they go.  I am almost crying there is no way I can smoke these things....   LOL

People start arriving from here there and everywhere.  At the peak there must have been 75 people in my backyard.  Booze is everywhere.  People keep giving me presents.  Beer keeps flowing.  100 steaks cooked and ready to go.

Now for the sappy part.  It took my wife 3 months to plan this thing out.  Stupid me never had an idea of what the hell was going to happen that day. Never had this done to me before.  What a blast.  Everyone wants to know when  the next one is.  LOL  A pretty good day had by all including me.  Thanks honey !
All I wanted to do was slow smoke some ribs.  Another addiction created thanks to the Bradley that requires regular servicing...  But what an addiction to have.  Even better to share here with some of the best people on the planet.

Would you like smoke with that sir ?

cool, my mom just had her 50th B-day party last weekend too! I hate that I couldn't be there...She is in GA and I am stuck in AK for a few more months.

Now that sounds like fun.  Know you had a good time!

I guess I wasn't as good of a boy as you was!  At my 50th my family decided they would fly up from Texas because they had found out my wife wasn't going to do anything.  No black balloons, no over the hill signs nothing!

Now that's the way to celebrate the second decade of the "F years".  Sounds like a great time was had by all.

Oh, and those caution signs about upcoming health problems?  Those were real.   ;D
I like animals, they taste good!

From somebody who's 60th is on Friday, I tell ya, I'll change places with you!! 50 is a distant memory, mind you on my 50th, my better half, like yours, surprised me with a great party similar to yours.

I don't want anything special this year, we did have a very nice dinner at a fancy restaurant last night with the immediate family and that was great and all I really wanted.

Happy Birthday!! You young'un.

Great wife you have there OS!
