I was at a festival this weekend and had to take a picture of this vendor who was selling wood oven pizza. The pizzas they were selling were 8", and the oven looked like you could fix a 14" pizza.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I was using my phone camera.

This photo gives you a better idea of the actual size.

The pizza was not that good, but better then buying a slice from the usual pizza vendors. The problem was not because of the wood oven, but because of the dough, and they were rushing the cooking process. The crust was doughy and tasted like cardboard, but if they get their act together they will have a winner.

there seem to be more of those popping up.
With a nice oven like that it's too bad that the pizza wasn't not a good quality.

there are a couple trucks in CT that sell pizza.  I haven't actually seen them in person though  Here is one that is pretty close to me,  it's a fire truck with a wood fired oven.   I have driven by the restaurant and seen workers outside splitting wood :D   I keep meaning to try their pizza,  they have some of the "best of" signs (not that they really mean anything)

Deb;

I thought you would like to see those photos. I have to admit the link you provided it a couple of steps beyound what I saw. :) I'll keep my eye open for that fire truck.

I was watching this guy cook for awhile, checking out how he was moving the pizza around to different hot spots in the oven. In the final 10 - 20 seconds of cooking he lifted the pizza close to the ceiling to crisp the top.

Both of those are very nice.

Thanks Deb and Hab's.

That a picture of something I'll probably never see.

If you are ever on Route 84 in CT it is not far off exit 28  (1/2 mile maybe) on rte 322 I think the signs for that exit say wolcott, cheshire, marion, southington

there is another guy I think down by new haven ... here it is  http://www.biggreentruckpizza.com/truck.html    I could do a pizza truck, that truck looks just like the million year old hay truck I learned how to drive on.

That guy is making Bank $!

4 trucks and hardly any time open for the month of July!

Thanks for the link. I don't travel 84 east that often, but the  next time I do I will add extra time to make a stop.

I amazed at the Big Green Truck, that is a very unique mobile wood fired oven.

My dad was a firefighter and collected toy fire trucks.  He would have loved the fire truck pizza.  What a great idea.
