Famous Daves is one of the better places to get some different stuff.

Unfortunately, no I haven't been to any of them, they are too far from my house. I asked around at work and only 1 guy has been to the first two places, but he didn't recommend them, he said they weren't bad but he preffered these two places.

One of my faves is Los Dos Molinos for fairly spicy Mexican food.  Several locations in the area - their place in South Phoenix is in a house that used to belong to Tom Mix (movie cowboy in the 20s & 30s).  Last time I was there (about a month ago - at the downtown location) they had a chile relleno stuffed with adovada (chili-marinated pork) as a special - awesome!

I heard back from a friend (PieceKeeper) in the area and this is his reply:

Quote "I've heard good things about Los Dos Molinos, mostly that you had better bring some milk to neutralize the burn on your tongue.  My favorite place is Rosa's which is on the NW corner of Mesa Drive and University near downtown Mesa.

I can't say much about where's a hot spot to find rubs and sauces... don't go looking for specialty foods too often.   There's a chain of specialty food stores called AJ's Fine Foods that carry mostly non-traditional foods, seasonings, desserts, vegetables, etc." /Quote.

I've been to the area twice and was able to take Mrs. Jan on one of those trips. We drove up to Jerome (the mile high town) and then to Sedona as a day trip. I saw earth colors I've never ever seen before and Mrs. Jan liked it for a whole bunch of other reasons. We both enjoyed the day!

Have a great trip!

Smokey the Bear.

I never dress up jeans and a t-shirt or shorts are my choice of clothes. I also dont eat at places that have a white table cloth, they give you a half portion and charge you twice as much and try to pass it off as ambiance. Not my style.

Anyone have anything new to bring to the post. I will be driving all over Arizona since i will be there for a week. I am going to the Zona/New Orleans game and the Arizona college game as well. How about something close to those stadiums for a fill before the game. Thanks for the suggestions as i do not want to go to a tourist trap and eat crappy food & i would much rather trust someone on this board over a tv show.
