nepas posting them cans of Boiled Peanuts has got me in a habit of eating about 4 to 5 cans a week.

These are not Green Peanuts, but they are dryed Raw Peanuts.

Instructions say cover with water and add 1 cup of salt for 5 lbs of peanuts. At the Three hour mark

start testing the nuts for doneness and saltyness. Almost there.

This was 2lbs and I added 1/2 cup of salt.

They are getting mighty happy in that salty boiling water.

Just tested two and they are close to the texture I like.

I also found out you can boil up a bunch and freeze them.

They keep about 5 days in the fridge.

CRG how big is that pot?

I believe it is a 10 to 12 qt. But I will check when I wash it.

Danged ole peanuts are taking longer than a stubborn Bst Butt.

Boiled peanuts do take a long time and a lot of salt. When I do them, I get out my old propane burner and the largest pot that I have (larger than the one I use for turkey frying) and do a large batch. I then freeze what I do not eat that day. I pig out on these so I do not want anymore the rest of that week and possibly not even the rest of that month. Since we have vendors in the area, I rarely do them myself because of the time and cost factors.
Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.

Is it bad if my wife refers to the smoker as "The Mistress"?

Are they done yet? Are they done yet?

Do you know how long it takes to smoke a butt?

It just about took the same amount of time. Close to 8 hrs.

My wife says I won't be doing that again in the House.

But the Peanuts came out good. I might have just a tad

too much salt for other people but I like it.

Texas?

Are you sure don't live in a (wheel-less) school bus somewhere on 41-A with a fireworks stand out front and a junkyard out back?
Those look too "professional"!!!

I'll try them again, but outside with propane turkey fryer.

I made a mess in the kitchen and Momma wasn't happy.
