Found a temp controller at an auction.. removed the controller from a Slaughterbak hot melt spray machine (sprayed Glue)

I found the Schematics and was wondering if This would work for my Smoker I built..?

It is the 2 module one

I just missed this auction because I was working on smoker.. Rats....

I just E-mail arcs_n_sparks the link to this thread. I do believe he has a backgound in this field.

Dear Oldman and mrdennisg,

(Oldman: I though you were underwater).

I saw this schematic when I joined the forum. The company is Slautterback, bought out by Nordson. The schematic does not have enough info to answer the question, since it is unclear over what temperature range the controller can be set (hot melt machines run pretty hot, but there are obviously adjustment pots). Nevertheless, if the setpoint can be lowered to the 150 to 220 range, then there is hope. Photoshop was unable to sharpen it to the point of seeing RTDs, pots, and relay contacts clearly. If there is a better scanned image or other documents, I'd be happy to look them over.

Personally, I am trying to build a separate receiver for the ET-73 and implement a closed-loop controller for the Bradley. We're both driving towards the same idea....

I just uploaded these pics to :http://photobucket.com/albums/v486/todayschildhere/

Showing from the top clockwise:
on off switch
potentiometer
thermocoupler
heating unit (400 watt)
limit switch
relay
heting unit (400 watt)
linit switch
capacitor
orang wires are for second thermocoupler
next set of wires (top left corner of unit) are for second pot

As I understand it to be is power through switch to heating unit via relay as scematic describes controlled by pot.
where the capacitor and relay came in I do not know. back of unit says controlable from 50' to 450'.

The schematic shows it can control 2 seperate circets so I will only be using 1 pot and 1 relay on one side of controller. unless i can use the other side to turn fan on and off to controll a lower temp setting.

I do have the origanal prints I could email you it is a dwg. extension. 128 kb in size

Thanks for the input,, I forgot about the motor that pumped the glue thats what the capacitor was for. It was switched seperatly from the control unit. So it looks like if I can wire this corectly then we are in busness finaly I will keep you posted as to how it goes .

I may get carried away and use that motor for a spit since it is geared down so slow.....[;)]
