And now we all know BLSH is getting old and decrepit has gray hair and uses a walker!   ;D ;D ;D  He forgot Snows in Lexington, Blacks in Lockhart, and Coopers in LLano!   If going to Salt Lick - order with the sauce on the side.  I like it better without the sauce.  Most of the others don't serve their 'cue with sauce on.

Now you're telling on me.  But one big mistake -- I don't have gray hair.  My hair is, well it just isn't.   ;D

So many choices, so little time, never enough capacity.    :-\

I concur with Caneyscud on the Dallas scene and with his friend's recommendation on Cousins.  I was recently there for a few days' business and that was the only decent 'que I had.  I'll also put in a plug for Stephan Pyles restaurant in downtown.  Pricey, but very, very good.  Best food of the trip and one I'll definitely put on my list of places to go next time I'm there.  www.stephanpyles.com

Sweet Guys!

List has been made/updated over the past few days :) Now I just have to find a time period where I have 2-3 days off/attempt to consume more brisket than any man in a 48 hour time period without falling asleep while driving.

Unfortunately I'm only in NoLa until March 28th then I continue the bbq road trip back to New York.

Life's been good though so far. We serve these massive cowboy steaks to the Saints when they come in... They're about as wide as my calf, and 3 inches thick... Bone comes back clean :)

We actually serve Benton's bacon in lardon (.25"x.25"x1") form on our beet salad, its pretty good stuff wicked smokey. We get some Mangalista pork from the farm up on the North Shore @ La Provence and I swear I've never seen a belly that thick and meaty before. We usually end up doing a braised pork dish with it because if we made it into bacon it'd be over 3 inches thick.

One of our "VIP" dishes contains of a bacon foam, where we basically cook cream, bacon scraps, butter and some seasoning then aerate it in one of those ISI Canisters (Think Starbucks whipped cream)... de-ricious!

Anyway, its 2am local time and I got out of work a few minutes ago.

Gn'ight/Happy Holidays!

Good to hear from you HP!

That Benton's bacon is some good stuff.  Sorry you're leaving 3/28 as Jan and I are coming down in April.

If you haven't done so already, be sure to stop by Cochon on Tchopatoulas.  Grest smoked meat served there.

Happy Holidays to you.

HP,
The wife and I are going to be in NO the end of January for a few days that I have to be there on a business trip, maybe we can meet up depending upon schedules. One place the wife and I liked was a place off of Bourbon street called Petunia's. We have only eaten breakfast there but it was great.

Hey Gus!

Definitely available for a meetup schedules permitting (I should be fine unless I'm supposed to be making pasta on those days). I believe Petunias closed down a bit ago, but supposedly Oceana hired their breakfast crew/serves the same menu.

If not, Apparently Lukes Chicken and Waffles are pretty damn good/I can try to find a few other suggestions for breakfast.

Since you're in on business, and I can only promote my restaurant so much... Mr B's has $1.50 Martinis during their "power-lunch hour", August has its $20 lunch special, and they'll cook you some Bentons Ham (and almost anything else) if you ask nicely, and according to my crew, "Yo Momma's" is supposed to have the best burger in town (Peanutbutter Bacon Burger that is).

Let me know of any ideas as the time gets closer.

It has been years since I was in NOLA, but one of my favorites for a special breakfast for many years was The Old Coffee Pot.

Just checked and at least they have working webpage.  Here's a link

Right down the street from Pat O'Brien's! :)

Those buck 50 martini's at Mr.B's are not cheap @ss vodka with a half pour.  They are any of your favorite vodka and a really nice pour.  They also have buck 50 bloody mary's and screwdrivers on specific days.
