I checked two Wally worlds and Kroger's today and this is all I can find to brine my turkey in.

Does anyone know if this oven bag can do the job?

Those bags are real flimsy, I doubt that they would hold up.

Yea! I was worried about that. The only pot I have that is big enough is an aluminum one and I know not to just it. I'll just have to keep looking.

Stop by one of the local restaurants or fast food joints and ask them for a pickle bucket or a pickled herring bucket. Heck just a food safe bucket with a lid. I have also used the hefty 2.5 gallon zip bags.

Not sure how much time you've got to work with, but maybe expidited shipping on these, they work great!

I've been using them for years now, if not I'll be dead soon.  ;D

It only says that they aren't microwave safe, so as long as he dosn't nuke it, it should be fine.

They are pretty flimsy but I have used them for both whole turkeys and turkey breast. I will put the bird in the bag, set in a cooler, pour in the brine, zip tie the bag shut then cover with ice. So far so good.

Kevin, I did see those 4X bags at Wally world but because of the items shown in the bags (balls and stuff) didn't think they would be food safe. Maybe I should have read the box? I'll go back tomorrow and see.

If it worked for you...It's just my in-laws anyway.  :o

I'm double checking the website now, a little slow cause I'm on dialup, but www.ziploc.com

They're food safe.  Made from exactly the same stuff as the other Ziploc brand bags.

I got 'em at the local Target, but that was a year ago.
