Hello!

Just got the SS 4 rack analog smoker for 200 bucks. In the process of "seasoning" it right now with some Special blend bisquettes.

Looking forward to learning the art of smoking. Going to try my first one tomorrow. A 9lb boston butt using the Hickory recipe on Bradley's website. Going to make pulled pork from it hopefully. Any one who's tried this hope to hear what you think!

Cheers,
OstranzA

Thanks! I like pics too! Just posted a bunch of my butt in progress, well the prep anyway, hopefully soon to compliment it with some final product! T minus ~20hrs!

Welcome to the forum Ostranza - looks like we've got a couple of things in common. I'm here in AZ too and I'm getting ready to do a butt as we speak. Just now loading up the pics and tonight I'll be coughing up some smoke rings.

Thanks! I see you're an avid hunter too. I've only done bird hunting and rabbit in recent years. Just got back from Kansas doing Dove with some family but would love to venture into big game some day.

Hope them butts come out just right! I'm anxious to see how mine do. Currently sitting at 165F IT. I'm thinking it would be better to get it higher since everyone on her is saying 180 to 200F. Bit chillier at night and seems to bring the baseline temp down a bit. Do you continue cooking with 125W (smoke generator) after smoking is done? I turned mine off and got the 500W on high and at 215 right now.

Gettin up at 4am to see how it turns out. I've gotta figure out how this FTC works (how long does it stay wrapped in cooler?)

I don't use the smoke generator when done, mine seems to hold temps pretty good so I don't bother with it.

The butt can stay wrapped in FTC for 4-5 hours

Yup all went well with the butt and was a hit at work. I'M HOOKED! I also decided to buy my Pops a smoker for Christmas so I'm looking for some 5 hour range recipes or less. Possibly some ribs or a turkey recipe for the Badger/Rose Bowl game tomorrow. We're going to use mine while his gets to season tomorrow.

Looking forward to it!

I need to go to the forum options and find out where it has a box for automatically "Notifying me of replies" for every reply, post or thread I make to my email so I can stay on top of everything.
