Another case of smoked treats coming to the rescue. Of course if you hadn't spent the time smoking you could have done the other things you were supposed to and wouldn't need the treats to rescue you. But if you did the other things you wouldn't have had fun smoking. But if you had fun smoking then you would need the treats to bail you out. Hmmmm - this is getting complicated, kinda like that chicken and the egg thing. I think it is just best that I go open some adult beverages and contemplate this.  "No, honey I can't come help you I am trying to solve one of life's profound mysteries --sip, sip,sip."

I'm a thinking that maybe we all need to band together and form a Smokin Attorney Defense reciprocal fund.  We can call it SAD.  The fund could pay for relocation for fellow smoker that get in trouble with the wife or perhaps help pay for extra freezer space when we smoke to many pounds of meat to fit in our freezers.  So many things that we could cover under the SAD umbrella. 

Something to ponder.  I think I am with Gus on this and need to go get a drink to think this through.

Personally, I think Sonny did an incredible job of thinking on his feet under extreme circumstances. Sonny, you said it was surprise gifts for Wifey's family, you just didn't say how much of it was surprise gifts.  Give 'em a trail bologna, a pack of cheese and a pack of sticks.  You'll still have a frig full plus it will give you a good excuse to replenish the gift stock.

More importantly, you won't have a big knot on your head and sleeping out in that big smoker you built! :D
