Reading about smoking hard boiled eggs got me wondering about what would deviled eggs taste like if you made them and then smoked them.....or are we getting into an unsafe to eat area.  (I can not eat hard boiled eggs as they make me belch and the smell is sulfuric and will clear a room.  Been like that since childhood.)  I know that eating cheese right out of the smoker is like a cheesy ashtray...would the deviled eggs be the same?

If you can't smoke it.....you don't need it!!!

Smoked eggs do not look appetizing. I learned the grayish color turns people off to the idea of eating them. When I want to get a smoke flavor in my devil eggs, I either smoke a few hard boiled eggs, or several cooked yokes, finely chop and mix it in with the rest of the cooked egg yokes.

Nice cutting board  :D

Yeah and these eggs didnt last long at the SO either.

If i was doing smoked deviled eggs i would smoked the hard egg, take the yolks out and devil them then replace back into the halved eggs.
Dont smoke the devil mayo mix.

To kick it up some..... add some horseradish and crabmeat to the stuffing mix. Mmmmm  :)

I smoke eggs frequently.  Put raw eggs in the soker at 225 for two hours.  They will then be just like hard boiled eggs with a light smokey flavour.  I read that if you soak the eggs in 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water for 5 min. befor smoking that it will etch the shells and allow more smoke flavor in.  I have not tried that yet but plan to.  The way that I have smoked them makes for great deviled eggs.

Up In Smoke

If you are worried about the color you could always add a small drop of liquid smoke to the yoke when mixing, and not have to worry about smoking them.

...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

For me , I just like Lumpy's style of smoked eggs. Wifey and workmates may disagree, but how can you top a couple of smoked eggs with some spicy snack stix..maybe some smoked cheese with a cold brew.
Fine dining for this 'ol cooker!

I've never tried smoking them in the shell. It looks much better then smoking them peeled. I may try it to compare the smoke like flavor.
