Landjaeger Press

My neighbor said-------I need something to do  ;D

OK

Don't have to say that twice to me.

So we are making some Landjaeger press molds.

S4S Ply for the base and tops.


Poplar for the slats and dividers.


After assembly i will cold smoke the molds a few hours to get a season on them. I'm thinking after maybe a coat of cutting board oil? Dont know if the oil will separate the ply layer?

Made a couple spacer boards so all the slots are the same.

Cool beans Rick. I love Landjaeger.
I like to walk threw life on the path of least resistance. But sometimes the path needs a good kick in the ass.

Looks good, Before I cold smoked mine I sprayed them with salt/cure brine mixture to prevent mold. Now after each use I clean and spray salt brine and let them dry.

Nice Job Rick, How thick will them Jigs mash the LandJaegar to, Looks like about 5/8"?

Bout 1/2 to 5/8

I cant help it

I had to try the press so i mixed up some Landjaeger mix.


Stuffed some casing and put em in the press.



A sheet of freezer paper over the links and the top on. Now to the fridge with some weight on it to squoosh em  :D

How long do you leave in the press?

What is the significance of the "press"? ???  I'm assuming that is how the sausage is traditionally made but does it do anything special?
