Squirt dropped off some more pulled pork...
(I'm still kitchen-less and too busy to smoke anything until I have a kitchen...)

Totally Starne's style this time...
Got out my commercial "smasher"...
Starts like this -- white bread, bbq, and Starne's sauce...

Smashed FLAT...

Comes out like this...

(note: those pics were of the Mrs' sammich --- mine was DRIPPING with Starne's)
THX again, Pat!!!!
(MrsD says THANKS too)

It was EXCELLENT!!

I'm gonna run a BIG load of butts as soon as I can.  We'll "replenish".
The kitchen is getting closer to being done -- but this new "job" gig has really slowed things down.

Crown molding is up -- except for the little "beaded" thingie.
It's all a dusty, dirty mess right now.

Starting to put base cabinets in.

It's a total "gut" job...  New everything...
That exhaust hood in the picture (with sheetrock dust all over it) is the first new "appliance".
Here's a better picture of it (before I got the crown molding up)

It was a serious PIA...
Had to cut a 10" hole through a brick wall for the exhaust.
But, first, I framed in a header (since I was losing a stud there)...

From the other side...

I am hearing a song:  That's what friends are for.....

Hal, looking good, but I know you are ready to be done with this project.  Heck I have been staining the pergola out back and fence and I swear I will never do it again.  Of course I said that last time , but when the bids came in I could not justify paying some joker the price they were all wanting.

Yep, exactly the way it's done at the counter at Starne's. Only thing missing is it's not wrapped in wax paper.  Looks perfect Hal!

LMFAO!  We went straight to the eating phase...   ;D

If I get all my projects done before you and Jan come up...
(Note how BIG the IF is...)
I'll buy some wax paper, paint the garage institutional green, and fix ya up!
Awrighten.

Ready to be done is right!...
I told wifie, when I started this, that I would get it done by Easter --- IF I didn't have a "real job" come up...
Sure enough, my "pimp" called -- sent me out on a short gig in the middle of this -- and then sent me out again starting two weeks ago.
Needless to say.. (it takes 3 weeks to get the countertops -- and it ain't even templated yet)...  Easter ain't gonna happen.

I'm about to get serious about my "NEVER AGAIN" things.
Might slip up on some of them, but "remodel the kitchen"....
Not gonna happen again --- never-ever-ever.
Awrighten.

Nonny nonny boo boo; my kitchen is done except for punch list stuff!  Of course I'm 5,000 miles away and won't be allowed to eat (or able to afford to eat) for the two weeks between when we get home and when I go to NOLA but it's done (and sure is purty - pics when I get home).  Don't know what the best part is but I'm liking the huge pantry closet, the butcher block in the middle of the floor, and the view of the living room.  Oh well, if I can't eat, at least I can "reload" the cabinets and drawers.  Hang in there, hal - it'll be way cool.

OBTW, I'm looking for an alternate knife storage solution (other than drawers & blocks).  Any ideas?  I was thinking about magnetic bars but don't know how sturdy they are and how they keep from scratching the good knives.

KH, I have the mag bars holding several of my larger knives.  They are very sturdy and I have not noticed any scratching at all beyond normal wear and tear.
