Hooked up my new auber PID to my DBS6 tonight.  Got it figured out on how to program the steps and all with help of my son.  Prepared some pistachios to smoke.  Only thing is that it seems to be taken forever to heat up.  It is about 55 outside and no wind.  Is this normal?  I checked all connections to make sure they are tight.  I have the smoke generator turned on.  Does the oven need to be turned on with the main box as well?  Not sure if this is normal or not.

Well I discounted the PID and went back to original set up.  Still nothing.  I disconnected and reconnected the wires, checked the fuse all is good.  I think the element may have went.  Great! just bout 5 pounds of pistachios 10 pounds of cheese and ribs to smoke tomorrow.  Is there a way you can put a multimeter on and check to see if this is the case.  The smoker is only 3 months old and did maybe half a dozen smokes in it.  I have read the Bradley is good with warranty just sucks!

Well just took the heating element out and tested it.  If I did it right I and believe I did it, it went out.  There is 120 volts going to it but no continuity in it.  Guess I will be call Bradley Monday morning to get a new one.  UGGGHHH!

You can still cold smoke your cheese, and also do the same for the ribs and pistachios. For the ribs after cold smoking you can finish them on the grill or in the oven. The pistachios can also be finished in the oven at low heat.

As for the element, switch the meter to ohms, if you get a reading between 27 - 32 the indicates it is good.

I thought the same thing defiantly can cold smoke the cheese since that's how it would be done any ways.  Going to do the same for the other stuff.  As for checking the Ohms I have also did that  and get nothing when I stick the probes to the metal threaded part.  Went to Yard and Pool to order two extra ones and they are on back order.  Will be calling Bradley Monday morning to get a replacementfrom them.  But will be getting two from Yard and Pool to have on hand.

I had the same problem when breaking in my new smoker and found that it was the power source problem.
Had it plugged into a circuit with a freezer and it was taking forever to heat.
Plugged it into its own receptacle and it heated much faster.
