The week of the 4th I visited my son and wife in KC and Grand Kids (thier parents too) in Gretna NE.  Drove the I 29 and detours.  The whole thing is shocking.  Took a couple of pictures just should of the mile pole 110 closure.  You would think your in Florida with the water on each side of the interstate.

Crazy deal

Yep SAD deal it is.

This all could have been prevented.

I live just N of Blair and in one of those shots of High Way 30 with the sand bags on both sides of the road is kinda freaky when you are drivin down it.

When the water goes down,,, now that is when we will see the devastation.

I got a bad feeling about I-29, the highway department is going to have to do some major repairs. With the amount of water and the pressure of the flow on the underlayment who knows how much damage has been done.
The state highway out of Council Bluffs north to Missouri Valley is getting a workout from all the traffic that's been detoured on it and will have to be looked at for damage after all is done.
And we're dealing with heat indexes over 100 for the next week...who says global warming doesn't exist

You got that right.

Highway 75 going N outta Blair is getting a pounding too.

I bet most of the Interstate will have to be redone along with the bridge abutments.

You should see the erosion around the bridge going from Decatur to Onawa,,,,,bad news.

Going to be fun this fall I hunt in them hills east of Little Sioux
If I can get there I'm hoping there's lot of deer moving in
The fun is going to be getting there
