Looking to buy a new thermometer looking at a 73 and a 732 maverick. but at 30.00 dollars for the 73 and 70.00 for the 732 I don't know. Any one have any comments on this subject. Are they worth it or not. read the comments and its pretty much 50/50 on quality. I need some thing to watch temps inside the house through one mostly wood wall. Some say the range is not 100 ft but more like 30 ft on the 73. Also do you really have to take battery door off to turn off? Are there better products?

Yard and Pool has the 732 for $59.99 with free shipping

I have had both. The range of of the 73 is poor. There is a mod you can do by soldering a piece of wire on it which will make it work great. Yes you have to take the back off the transmitter to turn it on. No notification if you lose signal, it just shows the last temp it read.
The 732 has all the fixes need on the 73. It has built in antennae and I can get range anywhere in my two story brick house with the transmitter on my back deck. The on off buttons are on the outside. It also has an alarm to let you know if it loses signal.

I don't know about other brands or models, but i wouldn't waste my money on the 73

I have both and the ET-732 is a much improved model and worth the price. I still use my ET-73 but for overnight cooks I would only trust the ET-732 because it will tell you if it lost connection to the base.

I've had my et73 for two years now and never any problems with it. I will get the 732 when mine craps out. Maybe I'm crazy but my 73 will start beeping when it looses signal. No joke. I have to go back and turn off both units and back on and it syncs back up. If you gonna get one, take the plunge and get the new one.

Thanks figured as much reading reviews.Just a lot for a thermometer. Well bought my wife a motor home for our anniversary. Just a used one but she likes it. One of the kids gave us a amazon gift card. She said here you can use this. LOL I said yeah maybe with 50.00 more she says go for it. Well guess I'll be getting a 732 soon. Tired of running from house to smoker over and over in the middle of the night and it's creeping the last few degrees.
