BBQ On the River 2011 - pics as we go..

Busy day yesterday...   I wandered out early in the morning while the teams were firing up ribs & chicken and who knows what else.


Paducah is pretty town.  Lots of neat old buildings.









Ok, enough architecture, let's bring on the food!














I love the 2 old Aussie charcoal grills in the center there.



Got around on the back side..






Look at all the hickory piled up!





At this point, a guy comes walking up to me and asks point blank - "are you with the media??"

Uh, no..


"Ok, come over here and you can get some meat shots!"

So he unlatches the lid so I could get some action photos..







I'll have to go back there today and get something to eat.

Base camp.




Mark is almost here by now, so KyNola and I wrestle the cambo out of the car and I bring it upstairs.



Mark shows up and we unload his vehicle and sit around swapping & chit-chatting until the BBQ vendors were open for business.  Sonny was starving by this time so we cut it short and hit the streets.






There is a team from Louisiana called The Boudin Boys, so KyNola and I had to try out their jambalaya.



Lines are forming now.

We take Mark and Sonny down to the floodwall to check out the murals.  It's really cool..

I get a call from Mark that they are delivering hogs for the Whole Hog competition prep.   I wander down to Lenny's place for a few shots.

A band sets up about 3 feet from us and that about wraps up the evening.



Getting crowded now at the BBQ fest, we head the other direction for a nice dinner.
