can i use me bradley smoker in the winter, or is the cold gonna be too hard on the heating element?

Cold is not an enemy of the Bradley.  Wind is the enemy of Bradley.  If you can block the wind from blowing across the top of the Bradley somehow, you will be good to go. Wind coming across the vent of the Bradley will suck the heat right out of it.

I guess what he was saying is that there are member from Alaska where is butt azz cold all the time and they should be able to give you some insight on their experiences with the
Questions you have. Also not everyone here cold smokes, others will be by to answer the other ? 's. Welcome to the forum :) :D 8)

Use it any time you can get the heat hot enough to suit your cooking needs. If you have a problem you can always get a PID and a second element.

I've smoked many a times during the winter in below zero temperatures with no problems to the heating element.  Now the wind does cause me issues sometimes, but I've taken a 90 degree furnace duct elbow and set it on top of the vent and pointed it away from the wind and that helped significantly.  As a matter of fact, I use it during the summer as well when it's windy outside.
