Is the main function of a wind break to help prevent heat loss from the Bradley when windy or is it for another reason? This thread http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=21620.0 shows an air filter as well as a 4" aluminum attachment being used.

Thanks

Yes a wind breaker is simply that. But the other your talking about sounds like a cold smoke setup. Which is basically a metal box lower then the smoker with a dryer hose running to the smoker. This lets the heat cool down before hitting the smoker and gives you a low temp smoke usually under 100 degrees.

Nope, I've seen the cold smoke box thread and will build one in the spring. Just did cheese (4 wks = Dec 20th!!!!) and it's cold enough to keep the T down (never got above 77, would have liked it abit warmer. This top vent looks like flashing around a 4" pipe that you would then attach a length to, most likely dryer vent material. (pick is on the link).

What is the interior wall of the Bradley top like? Just use 4 self tapping short screws to mount through the flashing and the exterior layer of the Bradley?

I cant see the link for some reason. But what your describing sounds like an inside setup and their venting into a chimney. Mabe something like this? THis is mine and i use PVC instead to vent.

Not sure why it didn't load, just tried it and worked for me??? Was a reply post March 29, 2011 from Arnie. It's either got to be something for a dry or heating duct. I'm sure I can find it at Home Depot or something.

Ok see it now. The filter laying on the vent is just a wind break too. And the galvanize is the same. They are to prevent strong wind from blowing in smoker. Thats all. I use to use a pvc toilet adapter. That's what my exhaust pipe is hooked to.
