Rugby?  Isn't that what guys who are not brave and crazy enough to play Australian Rules Football do with their spare time? [:D]

Haha, i definately think "crazy" is the best word associated with Aussie Rules Football.

There was an air of depression in the lab yesterday John, two very morose ardent Liverpool supporters cursing a somewhat fortunate Man U! Daylight robbery was the general concensus.

Ok, footie fans--I'm back in business but missed a lot of the soccer the past couple weeks.  Looks like Man City and Everton have done pretty well.  Lpool and Gunners not so well, and Chelski keeps purring along.  What else is brewin'?  Did Sounness get sacked yet?

Hey Manx--just a few hours (it's about 1AM in England right now) until the Man City-Liverpool match.  It's a tough call for me because I like both teams, but I have to say I have closer ties with Man City.  Hope the match is a cracker!

Yes, Souness got sacked a while ago and Newcastle have been unbeaten since!Guy called Glenn Roeder in charge for the timebeing.

I ended up watching the Liverpool City game on tely, the tickets fell through at very short notice related to unforeseen (and tragic, albeit not related to me or mine) circumstances. Jack, my 8 year old lad, was rather disappointed but was old enough to put it into context.

The game was obviously rather a disappointment to City fans, losing and Barton sent off!!

Now hoping to get tickets for next Saturday's game against Charlton, also at Anfield so keeping my fingers crossed. We will probably make a weekend of it and have a "boys behaving badly" weekend. Too much junk food, late nights and partying!!

Hi Paul,

What's new on the footie front?  Did you get to Anfield a couple weeks ago for the match vs. the Addicks?  Tough week for City with the Wigan loss and the FA Cup loss vs. West Ham--I though City deserved better!

Hey Toffeeman,

You must be enjoying Everton's resurgence in the EPL!  A European place seems within reach now . . . Everton looks like they're enjoying playing again.

Hi John,

Yes, had a marvellous weekend with Jack. The football was awful[:(] but Jack is only 8 and was just happy to see his heroes play. I think Liverpool were to proccupied with the forthcoming game against Benfica which they also lost! Unfortunately no goals but the atmosphere was good. We had a few hours at the ground and Jack is already planning his next trip![;)]

City have lost the plot a bit recently, I think the FA cup has detracted from the league, against Wigan the manager made 6 changes and rested players only to lose both that and the quarter final last night..... very disappointing! They clearly need 2 or 3 new players in the close season, at least they will still be in the Premiership next season!

Did you have a good break?

Wonderful break, Paul.  Cabo was amazing!

Watching Man U vs. West Ham as I type this.  It's 1-0 Man U in the 83rd minute . . . hope the Hammers come through with a late equalizer!

Toffeeman, I'm hoping Everton end up in Europe, despite their stumble at Anfield last weekend.  Who'd have thunk it after their horrendous start?

Hey football fans--what a week!  Paul, what's the skinny on Stuart Pearce's comments on himself and his players--do the fans like that brutal honesty?  And Toffeeman, not the expected result against Sunderland . . .

Hi John,

Most people support Stuart Pearce, the concensus amongst fans is that he is the best thing to happen to City in years and that has not changed one bit with his comments.
All the papers are in support of him as well. like may sports soccer has become a business for the top stars who get paid thousands of pounds/dollars per week but do not put their heart and soul into the game.
So many people seem to want a return to true sporting values and Stuart Pearce is rapidly being recognised as one such person capable of delivering rather than running scared of the overhyped overpaid underachieving "stars" we see so often in sport nowadays.
Virtually every football fan I have spoken to irrespective of club they support has a great deal of respect for him.
