I had read some were that the cords work off resistance I believe. So that's not surprising. But I have used the smoker probe pushed into meat to watch temps also. You can use either on th 732.

Ordered the rtv off Amazon today. Also put my 5 different probes in a 200*F oven for 2 hours to bake out any moisture that may be in there. Just for yuks watched the displays and saw significant variations in response times as the oven heated up, but once it reached equilibrium they all displayed within 2*F of each other.  I also put an old fashioned oven thermometer in the oven and it agreed as well.  Will seal all the probes once the gooey stuff arrives.

Well my problem was that Maverick said that any time the probe is reading way off,LLL or HHH it's the probes fault. And once a probe was shorted there was no fixing it. So I didn't try to dry them. Now I think it may be why the sell so cheap. They make their real money off the probes. LOL They were always quick to reply but when I sent a fix they didn't reply at all! Least not yet!

Viper, that's what I was led to believe about the probes. Once moisture damaged they're a throw-away. I've tossed out around 2-3 and had 5-6 damaged. My ET-73 is so new that they've been sending me replacements free of charge. I've let them "dry out" in a 200F oven and all but one recovered. I'm sealing them all with red RTV. I've already bought some tougher/higher heat replacements from Big Poppa Smokers(for the ET-73), so when the originals crap out I'll use them. Just in case, before I use those I'll seal them too. I also have the ET-732 sitting on the shelf in case of catastrophic failure. :)
Give a man a beer and he'll waste a day.
Teach him how to brew and he'll waste a lifetime.

Probably se refurbished soon. May be why they want the old probes back.

I put my probes in the oven for 2 hours at 350*F yesterday, pulled them out and let them cool.  I was surprised that my bad one was again working just fine.  I was ready to throw it away and buy a replacement.

I'm going to get some of the Permatex high temp red and seal the joint and hope that cures anymore moisture issues.  Excellent thread and thank you everyone for the tips on getting this fixed.   :)

Just got me some for my et732. Brand new. Got it a few days ago and haven't used it yet.

Have you had a problem with it loosing sync. My buddy just told me he can be 40 feet line of site and loose connection. No obstructions. I think he got a dam Lemon. Lol. That's on tip of his bad probe.

Well I found I replace battery about every time I use it. I am removing from receiver now when done, Seems its the worse. But as battery's wear down so does the range. Best to use rechargeables I found. I shoot threw 3 walls at about 75 to 100 ft.
