Had some good time with my son this past weekend. Took him to the Schnitzel shack where he had some good German bier and some schnitzel.

He was feeling no pain when eating the schnitzel fingers. I was stuffed and only had 1 bier cuz i was the DD.

He has to get in formation at 7pm and the plane leaves at 10. Good thing is their deployment got pushed from 15 months to 9 and then to 5 months.

Had to break out the paracord jig to start making survival bracelets for the company.

Good luck to those boys. Ok now what are these survival braclets? Those look cool but do they have a purpose? Can I buy these some where in support of the boys?

Paracord is MIL SPEC utility line. 7 strand inner core with a breaking point of 550 lbs. Was used starting WWII as suspension lines for paratroopers. Now the general public can get the cord and dyed it many colors and patterns.

The bracelet if needed can be unraveled and used in tying down items, lifting and in case of emergency to tie a turniquet, secure a broken arm and so on.

hey have also been made into supporting awareness bracelets, Breast Cancer, Support the troops, EMS and so on. Been a growing number of people with medical problems wearing these, Diabetes, Autism, Heart Problems and EMS people are being trained to spot these. I'm a TypeII diabetic and recently started a low dose injection and working on a bracelet with a metal tag and my info on it.

The basic weave is called a cobra stitch. There is also one called king cobra. There are many knot types.

Here you see the difference in the 2 cobra weaves.

Standard on the top king on bottom. King has close to 25' of cord.

These i made when i worked at Cabelas and for some folks there.

Called half hitch. One is with the side release buckle the other with a chrome plated clevis. Close to 40' of cord.

This is a key fob. Its called a monkeys fist and has a 1" wooden ball for the core. It hurts if ya smack someone on the head with it. I made a 12" one with a 1" ball bearing in it for a guy at Cabelas, what he used it for?

So there ya have it  ;D

I will when he gets back. This is his last deployment.

How bout one for the Breast Cancer Awareness.

Quarlow

Cool on the monkeys fist. I made one also which hangs on the mirror of my car. Unfortunately the uv rays are eating the outer cover of the cord.
