smoke generater problem

Well not really a problem but....Some times I get a complete burn some I dont. But the other day while cleaning off the ramp to the burnner noticed the burner is lower then the ramp and the biscuit stops short so only one side is touching to start with,. Not sure if there all like this or I need to adjust.
