Need photos: Inside of smoke generator

Hi everyone!  My generator motor broke and I am in the middle of replacing it when I noticed a random wire not connected to anything.  I've searched high and low to find photos of the inside of the BDS smoke generator to no avail.  Does anyone have photos of the inside so I can see where this wire is supposed to connect?  See photo below, where I have circled the extraneous wire...  Thanks for any help, insight or photos you can provide...

Looks like a split off from the chassis ground wire

Really don't know why it is there, mine does not have it. Like Rex says, its in the ground line and its allready grounded. I would not be concerned.

Probably to ground a future upgrade. Brian from Bradley mentioned that there might be a meat probe upgrade in the future. That's why the front panel has an icon that says MEAT but it's not lit up. Just my two cents of the ground. Please don't quote me on it :)

That wire is the main ground wire and it should be connected to the screw just below it in your picture.

:-).  Just wish they would have hooked that up at the factory!

Looks to me that is an extra ground wire that is not needed. Your chassis ground appears to be already hooked up (yellow and green with connected to the plug and chassis). I would say not to worry and just leave it hanging.

If you have a closer look that is the only ground coming from the power source. The other one you are seeing is just a ground strap from one part of the cabinet to the other.

Basically, the way it is right now there is no ground that I can see.

The ground comes when the 2 pieces of the generator are screwed back together. Manufactures don't ground each panel since they will be screwed together for the finished product. The short one that is there isn't long enough to reach anything anyway and would be redundant to attach it to the chassis.

I doctored up Chris's picture a little. Without that ground connected you are relying on the ground coming through the bolts that the generator hangs on to the main cabinet. This wouldn't be a reliable ground.

Ok,
Now I see the wire. It appeared to me that the wire disconnected was very short. Still a lot of manufactures rely on the chassis ground connections coming through the bolts and side panels. I have been in electronics for over 30 years and seen it thousands of times. Anyway, now that I see it, yes the wire should be connected to the bolt is near to provide a ground for the incoming power.
