Hole for Probe

I'm setting up my bradley with temperature controller, and wondering how did you guys insert the probe into the smoker? I'm thinking of drilling a hole through the side wall, and then seal it with high temperarure (Red) silicon sealant? Will this be ok? Thnaks for your advice.

That should work OK. GE also makes a food grade high heat silicone. According to the label it's good to 500F. It takes 24 hours to set up before use though.

I run my probes through the vent.

I run my across the door seal with no problem

I would not permanently mount my probe inside the box. I like the flexibility of moving it around depending on how much I'm smoking and in what position it is in. I also run mine through the vent.

  I run mine through the vent so I can remove it to clean it

I run mine thru the vent too.  I use a pice of wire to hold it under a rack then.

I just stick mine in and shut the door.  I get no smoke leakage so it works fine.
